Vendakai Mor Kuzhambu

Ingredients
  • Vendakai (Okra) - 6 to 7 chopped 1 inch thick
  • Yogurt - 1 cup (not sour)
  • Okra – 4 to 5 chopped into 1 inch pieces
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp
Dry Roast and Grind Fine Paste
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Chana dal - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili - 1
  • Coconut - 1 1/2 tbsp shredded
Tampering
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida - pinch
Method
  • In a kadai dry roast items, once it cools down completely grind it in fine paste by adding little water and keep it aside.
  • In a same kadai add 2 tsp oil and once oil heats up add chopped okra and cook until stickiness goes off, now sprinkle little water and cook until it is soft, and keep it aside
  • In a same kadai add remaining oil, once oil heats up add the tampering items and cook for 1 min.
  • Now reduce the flame to low and add the yogurt and mix it well, now add the grind paste and add little water and mix it well.
  • Now add turmeric, salt, cooked okra mix it well and cook for just 1 boil ( don't boil more than 1 boil)
  • Now switch off the flame. Instesd of Okra even you can Neer Pusinikai, Chow Chow.
  • Serve hot with Rice.
