Ingredients

- Tamarind water - 4 cup
- Mustard - 2 tsp
- Split Urad Dal- 1 tbsp
- Channa Dal - 1 tbsp
- Hing - 1/8 tsp
- Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp (or) fenugreek powder - 1 tsp
- Dry red chilies - 10
- Peanuts - 1/3 cup
- Curry Leaves - 3 strings
- Turmeric - 2 tsp
- Gingelly oil - 5 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
To Make Tamarind Rice
- Cooked Rice - 2 cup
- Prepared Tamarind Paste - 1/4 cup
- Salt - to taste
- Gingelly Oil - 1 tbsp
- In a kadai add oil, once oil heats up add mustard and hing when mustard starts to splatter add urad dal, channa dal, peanut, curry leaves, dry red chilies and saute well until dal and peanut is golden brown.
- Now add tamarind water, turmeric, salt and let it for 30 min until it gets thick paste.
- Now add the fenugreek and mix it well. Once it's completely cool down store it in bottle and keep in fridge for months.
- In a kadai add prepared tamarind paste, rice, oil, salt and mix it well.
- Tamarind Rice is ready. Serve hot with Appalam or chips.

- Now add tamarind water, turmeric, salt and let it boil for 30 min.


- Once it gets thick paste add the fenugreek and mix it well. Once it's completely cool down store it in bottle and keep in fridge for months.

Note
If you make the tamarind paste a day before and store it in fridge, it is very easy to prepare tamarind rice. It will take just 10 min.
