Karupu Ulundhu Sooru & Ellu Chutney

Ingredients For Karupu Ulundhu Sooru
- Rice - 1 cup
- Karupu Ulundhu (Black Urad Dal) - 1/2 cup
- Garlic - 12 to 13 pods
- Coconut - 1/3 cup shredded
- Salt to taste
- In a kadai dry roast urad dal and soak it with rice for 30 min.
- In a cooker add soaked rice, urad dal, garlic, coconut, salt and mix it well. Now cover the lid and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle.
- Once pressure is released serve with Ellu chutney.
- Ingredients for Black Urad dal Rice.

- In a kadai dry roast urad dal and soak it with rice for 30 min.


- In a cooker add soaked rice, urad dal, garlic, coconut, salt and mix it well. Now cover the lid and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle.




- Once pressure is released serve with Ellu chutney.

Ingredients For Ellu Chutney
- Ellu ( Black Sesame) - 2 tbsp
- Dry Red Chilies -7 to 8 ( if you like more spice, add more chilies)
- Coconut - 1 cup shredded
- Tamarind - Small gooseberry szie
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- In a kadai dry roast Sesame until it start to crackle, and wash it.
- In a same kadai add oil, once oil heats up add chilies, coconut and fry it.
- Once it's cool down completely, add fried chilies, coconut, sesame, tamarind, salt and grind it little fine.
- Serve this chutney with Black Urad dal Rice.
- In a kadai dry roast Sesame until it start to crackle, and wash it.


- In a same kadai add oil, once oil heats up add chilies, coconut and fry it.


- Once it's cool down completely, add fried chilies, coconut, sesame, tamarind, salt and grind it little fine.


- Serve this chutney with Black Urad dal Rice.

Note
Black urad dal is very good for health. Especially for kids it make their bones very strong.
