Karupu Ulundhu Sooru & Ellu Chutney

Ingredients For Karupu Ulundhu Sooru
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Karupu Ulundhu (Black Urad Dal) - 1/2 cup
  • Garlic - 12 to 13 pods
  • Coconut - 1/3 cup shredded
  • Salt to taste
Method
  • In a kadai dry roast urad dal and soak it with rice for 30 min.
  • In a cooker add soaked rice, urad dal, garlic, coconut, salt and mix it well. Now cover the lid and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle.
  • Once pressure is released serve with Ellu chutney.

  • In a kadai dry roast urad dal and soak it with rice for 30 min.


  • In a cooker add soaked rice, urad dal, garlic, coconut, salt and mix it well. Now cover the lid and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle.



  • Once pressure is released serve with Ellu chutney.

Ingredients For Ellu Chutney
  • Ellu ( Black Sesame) - 2 tbsp
  • Dry Red Chilies -7 to 8 ( if you like more spice, add more chilies)
  • Coconut - 1 cup shredded 
  • Tamarind - Small gooseberry szie
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
Method
  • In a kadai dry roast Sesame until it start to crackle, and wash it.
  • In a same kadai add oil, once oil heats up add chilies, coconut and fry it.
  • Once it's cool down completely, add fried chilies, coconut, sesame, tamarind, salt and grind it little fine.
  • Serve this chutney with Black Urad dal Rice.
