Chana Masala

Ingredients
  • Chana - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 roughly chopped
  • Tomato - 2
  • Tomato Paste - 3 tbsp (If you don't have tomato paste add 2 more fresh tomatoes)
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Cashew and Almonds - each 3
  • Cinnamon -2 small sticks
  • Clove - 3
  • Chili Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Kasthuri Methi - 2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh Cream - 1 tbsp(optional)
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Butter - 2 tbsp
Method
  • Wash and soak the chana overnight, and pressure cooked chana with some salt for 3 whistle.
  • In a pan add the 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp butter, once oil heats up add onion and cashew, almonds saute until translucent.
  • Now add tomatoes, chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric, garam masala saute well.
  • Now add tomato paste saute until tomato is smashed. Turn off the flame and let it cool completely.
  • In a mixy add the sauteed mixture and grind into fine paste.
  • In the same pan add remaining oil and butter, now add cinnamon, clove, ginger garlic paste and saute until you get nice aroma from the paste.
  • Now add the grind paste, salt and cover cook for 5 min.
  • Now add the cooked chana with chana water( it gives more flavor to the dish) and cover cook for another 10 min. So all the flavor get into chana.
  • Switch off the flame add kasthuri methi and mix it well. Now add fresh cream and mix it well.
  • Serve hot with chapati or roti or phulka and Rice.
